Things that deregulate my soul make me not want to get out of bed in the morning. I despise lies and hatred, for what purpose than greed or revenge or destruction do they serve.
What human harms another human, for no reason while more painful yet —randomly and without remorse.
Worse, how in the name of religion or power or money or feud, could one attempt to make an argument in support of the infliction of pain onto those just trying to live a life well-lived.
We can’t justify intent to hate.
On the other hand, how can we expect someone to have remorse when they haven’t been taught empathy and compassion? They, as the small baby who wasn’t offered a secure attachment simply never developed it.
But for all the hatred and suffering in our world there is also a world of good. Good submits as we take broader notice of goodness in the world, we can apply the qualities of goodness —compassion, moral excellence, virtue, kindness, generosity to balance the scale of justice.
Lady Liberty might say what we learn about goodness can be used for good. She could suggest Mother Theresa, Virgin Mary, or any maternal force would concur —when we feel a cold heart, there are many more warm ones than cold.
I believe love is the common thread between hope and possibility shared by all religions, tribes and species. That idea is part of my mission statement as an artist.
Recently, I read the following statement from The National Library of Medicine about love in quantum physics and it makes a lot of sense to me.
“Quantum entanglement is a phenomenon in which entangled systems exhibit correlations that cannot be explained by classical physics. It has recently been suggested that a similar process occurs between people and explains anomalous phenomena such as healing.”
Is it not then, with this acknowledgment, our social responsibility to do everything in our power to lift each other up? To lift and reinvent humanity in the image of a loving God, a loving person, a loving planet?
I do.
Imagine a 21st-century model of education implementing curriculums that cultivate and facilitate well-balanced human beings.
Imagine a world of curiosity instead of fear.
Imagine everyone we met was a possibility instead of a threat.
Can we?
That is the choice we are asked to make today as the world seems bent on self-destruction.
Some will say we are doomed, some might recite “bless your heart” still many impassioned will ask “can’t we try?”

"I believe we have Power to Redefine our personal future. As a global thinking society, we possess the skill and means to lift, empower, and motivate each other —we can turn our dreams into realities. I believe Love is the common thread between hope and possibility shared by all religions, tribes and species." — Richard Silvia, Artist Statement
