The Provincetown Psalms
Psalm 0
Quiet moments
I love observing them
they bring us hope
they bring us peace
and for humanity
they deliver a promise
—of a future all live free
Psalm 1
Everything is connected
everything is changing
everything is interpreted
through the lens of our
personal life experiences
And it is interpreted, shaped,
by our spiritual sensitivity
We are young beings.
Psalm 2
Everything speaks through us
our own inner voices
not all our own yet
not all external chatter
Inner worlds project
outer experiences.
Who are the inner voices?
Where do they come from?
Why are they many times conflicted?
Psalm 3
It makes sense
that sensitives
—poets, artists, musicians, writers,
theologists, thinkers, intuitive’s
—painters, animals, mediums, visionary’s
feel change before it occurs
sense the collective
—at it’s best and at it’s worst
Beyond constructs of time.
Psalm 4
It is our job
moving the world
forward…
—in partnership with nature
—in mutual benefit
Of everything connected.
All.
Psalm 5
There’s a populous emerging
twenty-something —Gen Z olds
And I’m impressed.
They embody the fluidity
freedoms coupled with concerns
a motivating awareness with action
They lean toward safety, equality and sustainability
wholeness not just metaphor
—Much more complete ways of being.
Psalm 6
The collective is on overload
information requires a different kind of solitude
not one of loneliness
rather one of internal necessity
to digest natural networks
—so that nature and planet and beings
Process and restore our equilibriums.
Psalm 7
When we receive we fill
if we are full we become saturated
information pools and mingles
—a tidal pool rises.
What is in the pool?
Psalm 8
Yesterday a small child screamed
she was frightened of an exploding balloon
—her parents immediately moved her
—to a safe space just around the corner.
They calmed her, comforted and protected her.
A friend and I discussed our observations.
Some would have laughed
and shamed and blamed
What would you say to a frightened child?
Psalm 9
The art of becoming
is to lesson our defenses
—remove our armor
When the poet in us is curious he expands
inner and outer have no demands
The morning birds sing
—no harsh words
We need not check this glorious day off our lists
Love it deeply
savor its melancholy mix
Gladly shall we accept the chances we get
—to experience or re-experience
The fondness that is true.
Psalm 10
Ultimately the end goal
is the become the best of who we are
not by obtaining trophy or power
rather by collecting thoughts
that become memories
—strives to better understand humankind
and earthly realms
Not by or for control
—But to create a greater good.
