We’re always searching to move forward toward something brighter. We’re always seeking to move back to something we remember.
To simpler times.
To kinder times.
To younger times.
To safer times.
Meditation, ritual, prayer, religion, spirituality, exploration, nature, family, community —in all their forms, are actions we use to bring ourselves into feeling peaceful.
Peaceful beings discover space. And in that space between past and future, Mystery appears.
Mystery, for all intents and purposes, is widely considered that which is Divine, beyond human understanding.
A universal intelligence…
And if our curiosity becomes stronger than the fright of that we don’t understand, that veil between our worlds, often our self imposed barriers and limitations, becomes thin.
In this mysterious space, spirits may try and communicate with us. Sometimes, we may feel our transcended loved ones near us. And at the same time, we are walking upon hallowed ground. Sacred is our dead’s bones buried that becomes the richness of this ancient land.
We all live on ancient land. Earth holds the DNA of literally everything from stars to dinosaurs, to our beloveds.
Everything is connected. Everything is interdependent.
Giving thanks offers our recognition. It honors something or someone for their gift, so be it giving thanks to any chalice of “things that hold” mysterious teachings —helps that knowledge to get passed forward.
Imagine if we will, as leaves in the fall soar like seeds far away into unknown places Mystery call them. Knowledge thus lands into the hands that upon seeing, can learn and grow.
Locked inside the sometimes brittle and fragile, this Mystery, alive and willing and beautiful seeks us too.
Approach Mystery in curiosity with honor and respect. And in our welcoming, shall the secrets we seek open like flowers we adore —and such a thing will adore us in return.
Ask and you shall receive.
Samhain, Halloween, All Saints, Day of the Dead or perhaps Christian, Pagan, Jew, Muslim, Indigenous —though celebrated at different times during the year, and in different ways with different images, each honor a fellowship of light.
We celebrate the light, which represents knowledge. The transferral of knowledge in time and space as we know it, is given through reciprocity.
Maybe, not unlike lighting a votive in church in honor of our Mother or Father, query of the past in ritual is to integrate and allow our presence now —to become a future brighter than the darkness we fear in the world today.
Peel back the layers and you will be guided, into the body Mystery.
