So many of us are ready to move forward, out of the trials and tribulations that, at least to me, seem to have defined the last ten or fifteen years.
Last night, I dreamed about the country roads where I used to live—open farmland, tranquil surroundings, space to walk a dog. In the dream, my partner and I were riding with a friend when we passed a charming house that caught our eye. Our friend reversed the car, speeding backward for what felt like miles. I kept saying, "We’ve gone too far," but suddenly, we were driving forward again, passing the house we wanted to see.
It’s symbolic of 2024.
We long for peace and normalcy, to focus on our goals and dreams without the constant distractions and adversities that have made life so difficult. It doesn’t seem like too much to ask, but for that to happen, we all need to see the same bigger picture. Not to live the same way, but to agree on a foundation that allows us to find peace and provides opportunities to thrive.
Many can’t see those opportunities because they’re trapped in chronic suffering, struggling to survive, or stuck in places they can’t escape. They feel left behind.
Some of us had rough starts in life, which made us work harder to keep up. For many, it feels like we’re always trying to catch up. Sometimes, it seems like others have it easier, but I question that. Does having a big house, fancy cars, and the latest tech really make life easier?
Thinking success lies outside ourselves only masks a deeper issue—a social misperception that dressing the part somehow creates a life free from suffering. Maybe it offers some escape, but it can also foster a life lacking empathy, optimism, and real happiness.
The world comes at us in waves—good and bad. We must decide that no one is above the law, that inclusion and diversity are part of being human. We must accept that happiness is fleeting, so we need to dig deeper for something more lasting than material things. And we must realize that the world is ready—ready for us to embrace our true potential and redefine who we can be.
True fulfillment doesn’t come from external success or material appearances, but from inner values like empathy, inclusion, and understanding who we really are.
The moment to act is now. There’s still time.
Use your voice.
